Summer Psychology Interns (Class of 2026)

Madeleine Bornstein is a rising fourth-year undergraduate student at Northwestern, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Political Science, Business Institutions, and Sociology. Her research interests lie at the intersection of individual psychology and social context, especially the psychological mechanisms that lead people to legitimize or challenge unequal systems. Outside of school, she enjoys dancing, watching movies, reading, and traveling. She's excited to enjoy summer in Chicago by going to concerts, exploring vintage markets, and relaxing on the beach.

Naomi Ko is a third-year Northwestern student interested in the psychological processes behind self-discrimination and prejudice within minority groups, and ways to combat societal inequality within education systems. She is currently studying Psychology and English and pursuing Medill's IMC Certificate. In her free time, she loves to journal, discover new music, play the guitar, and cafe hop. This summer, she is looking forward to spearheading her own research project, learning about the grad school experience, and bonding with the other interns.

Quan Nguyen is a rising senior at Pomona College. He is interested in interracial relations, cross-group friendship, and collective action in diverse political and organizational landscapes. Outside of the lab, Quan loves to junk journal, complete jigsaw puzzles, and cook. He is excited for his first Chicago summer and spending time in the lab!

Anabelle Jimenez is a third-year undergraduate psychology student and lab manager at Northeastern Illinois University. She is particularly interested in how ever-changing cultural narratives contribute to social inequality across intersecting identities and how they influence bias against marginalized groups. In her free time, she loves to listen to her favorite 80s and 90s hits, explore new restaurants, and watch dramatic telenovelas. This summer, she is especially looking forward to expanding her social bubble, fostering new skills, and developing work that she is proud to share with others at the end of this experience.

Hello! My name is Joshua Sandoval and I'm currently a third-year student at the University of Illinois Chicago, studying Psychology and Latin American and Latino Studies. I’m particularly interested in socioeconomic inequality, prejudice, as well as how cultural and social factors shape growth and relationships. When I’m not in the lab, you can usually find me playing guitar, going on long walks, and trying new food spots around the city. This summer, I’m excited to meet new researchers in academia, gain new perspectives in research, and develop skills and insights that will support my pursuit of graduate school.
